About the office

Professional Experience is a crucial element of the academic journey for student teachers, integral to their development and learning. The Professional Experience Office plays a pivotal role in managing all aspects of these courses within the School of Education.

This Office is tasked with overseeing Professional Experience policies and processes, leading the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment, moderating marks and grades, and collecting and reporting data to meet accreditation standards and other external requirements.

 
About the role

The Professional Experience Manager oversees a national team in delivering high-quality professional experience placements for Education students, ensuring alignment with academic and career goals. This role oversees placement logistics, stakeholder communication, and quality assurance matters. Whist managing a high-level of administrative tasks to maintain excellence. The position is located on the Fremantle campus and will report directly to the National Lead, Professional Experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a national team to coordinate student professional experience placements, ensuring efficient implementation and delivery of the national framework for placement activities. This will also include resource allocation, performance management, and the induction and training of new staff.
  • Direct the planning, execution, and evaluation of student placements across multiple campuses.
  • Lead and deliver comprehensive administrative support for Professional Experience placement activities, including overseeing placement planning, managing data collection and analysis, and writing and editing reports and other key documents.
  • Manage placement logistics, including matching students with suitable opportunities and resolving placement issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with educational institutions, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and implement quality assurance processes to ensure high standards for all placements.
  • Conduct regular review and assessment to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of placements.
  • Present high-level strategic advice and provide support to senior staff, contributing to operational and strategic planning, as well as financial and resource management for Professional Experience activities.
  • Identify and implement improvements to placement processes and practices to enhance student outcomes.
  • Prepare and present reports on placement activities, outcomes, and metrics to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to students throughout the placement process, addressing any issues or challenges they may encounter.
  • Assess and analyse placement program effectiveness, incorporating feedback from students, staff, and partners.
  • Develop and maintain project and placement management systems, procedures and policies, and business improvement initiatives.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • A degree (Education or Business Administration – desirable) with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience or extensive experience and management expertise in technical, administrative or education fields, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Eligible for teacher registration in Australia (desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motive a diverse team fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Refined and collective management skills working in team dynamics, providing mentorship.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of resource allocation (higher education experience highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership and management including the development and implementation of policies, strategies and initiatives to enhance placement activities and align them with organisational goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in project management, including strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of placement processes and logistics.
  • Experience in resource allocation, and ensuring adherence to timelines, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to work productively and cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team and with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed conceptual, organisational, planning and time management skills, including the capacity to manage competing priorities and to deliver strategic outcomes.
